*** THANK YOU... ***
for evaluating MiniHelp Plus v3.21. MiniHelp Plus v3.21
allows you to EASILY and QUICKLY create Windows Help
files from simple, easy to learn specially formatted ASCII
text files.
MiniHelp Plus v3.21 is a much faster way to create
Windows Help files without the pain and bother of using
an RTF-capable word processor (such as Microsoft Word),
and yet without sacrificing any of the functionality. MiniHelp
Plus v3.21 has no restrictions and is not crippled in any
way.
The Windows interface for MiniHelp Plus v3.21 has been
redesigned to increase the ease of use of MiniHelp Plus
and to expand its capabilities. Here is what you can do:
* Compile your MiniHelp Plus ASCII source file into
an ASCII text file
* Run the Windows Help Compiler without ever leaving
Windows.
* "Build & Test" your Windows Help file with the click
of one button.
* View the Help Compiler Error Log file either at your
leisure or automatically when the Help Compiler is
finished compiling your Help file.
* View/edit the file MiniHelp Plus automatically generates
(the RTF, HPJ, or the Header file for context sensitive
Help).
* View/edit virtually any graphic files in your Help file
project (bitmaps, hot spot graphics, and Windows
metafiles) at the click of one button.
* Launch your favorite ASCII text editor with the click of
one button. You can even have your current Help file
project text loaded in automatically, if you so choose.
* MiniHelp Plus v3.21 now sports a "status bar" to
let you know what your last action was and to inform
you of its current actions.
* MiniHelp Plus v3.21 now has an "Always On Top"
function, allowing you to make it the topmost window
on your screen.
* and much, much more.
*** WHAT YOU WILL NEED IN ADDITION ***
*** TO MINIHELP PLUS V3.21 ***
First, you will need an ASCII text editor you are familiar and
comfortable with. You will also need a graphics editor (such
as Windows Paintbrush).
Most importantly, you will need a copy of the Windows Help
Compiler, if you do not already have one. This program is
widely available on virtually every major online service and
on a very large number of BBSs around the world, even from
Microsoft themselves via the Microsoft Download BBS
(206-936-6735). On America Online, download the file
HCP505.ZIP to obtain the latest and most up-to-date copy of
the Windows 3.1 Help Compiler. Or, you can contact me and
I will send you a copy.
I used to include the Help Compiler (HCP.EXE) with MiniHelp
Plus but have chosen not to do so now, due to its wide spread
availability and to make the download time for MiniHelp Plus
shorter.
*** WHAT YOU WILL RECEIVE WHEN YOU REGISTER ***
Registration for MiniHelp Plus v3.21 is $30. You may register
by sending cash, check or money order to:
Paul Arnote
1208 Randolph St.
Leavenworth, KS 66048
Here is what you will receive in return:
* The registration code that disables the NAG screen and
removes the MiniHelp Plus v3.21 "advertisement" from
the Help files it creates (don't worry, this "ad" is very
unobtrusive and does not "pop up" at unsuspecting
times...only if the user selects it. It's just "there").
* A FREE utility disk that contains the following:
* Documented Help Macros A to Z: A special Help file
that details all the DOCUMENTED Help macros and
how to use them. All the macros are presented with
examples of their use in MiniHelp Plus source file
format so you can start using them TODAY with
MiniHelp Plus v3.21.
* Undocumented Help: A special Help file, also aimed
towards users of MiniHelp Plus, that details all the
UNDOCUMENTED Help macros available in Windows
Help. Like above, all the macros are presented with
examples of their use in MiniHelp Plus source file
format so you can start using them TODAY with
MiniHelp Plus v3.21.
* MiniHelp Plus Hints & Tips: A special Help file that
helps you get the most out of MiniHelp Plus by giving
you special hints, tips, tricks and answering many
frequently asked "How do I do this..." questions.
* Microsoft Help Writer's Authoring Guide: a Help file
from Microsoft that details all the particulars about
writing Windows Help files. An invaluable reference
and resource of information.
* The Multiple Resolution Bitmap Compiler: compiles
your bitmaps of different resolutions into one special
graphic file so your graphics retain their intended
aspect ratio when displayed on different resolution
displays.
* The Microsoft Hot Spot Editor: creates segmented hot
spot graphics from bitmaps that allow you to jump to
one topic when you select a certain area of the graphic,
and to another topic when you select a different area
of the graphic.
* The MiniHelp Plus Reference Library: an interface that
ties most all of this together, allowing you easy access
to the information you need with one click of the mouse.
Furthermore, the MiniHelp Plus Reference Library comes
with two special Help utilities that allow you to "dissect
and peek under the hood" of Windows Help files to see
what makes them tick.
* A special collection of bitmaps to use in your Help files.
* Three special DLLs that extend the functionality of your
Help files. They allow you to insert animated bullets and
arrows into your Help files, display 256 color bitmaps in
Windows Help (something it isn't capable of doing on its
own), to print out multiple topics at one time, and much
more.
* Access to special MiniHelp Plus supplemental files on the
BBS home of MiniHelp Plus, HOUSE OF CARDS BBS
(913-592-4163). Many of these files (when available) will
not be available anywhere else. Also available here are
more Help DLLs to extend Help's functionality and more
special Help files to assist you in the creation of your
Windows Help file.
See...you get a LOT for your $30 registration fee. Of course, registered
users will receive preferential technical support, but unregistered users
will also receive unlimited technical support. Registered users just
receive faster and more thorough support.
Please, consider registering your copy of MiniHelp Plus v3.21. A TON
of work has gone into trying to make it the best Help writing utility out
there...and all for the very low price of $30.
Also, please feel free...in fact, I encourage--no, beg--you to upload
the ORIGINAL zip file of MiniHelp Plus v3.21 to any online service or
BBS you frequent or visit. By helping to broaden the number of
distibution points for MiniHelp Plus, you can help insure that the
price of future versions remains low.
Thank you,
Paul Arnote.
