  6. files from simple, easy to learn specially formatted ASCII

  9. MiniHelp Plus v3.21 is a much faster way to create
  10. Windows Help files without the pain and bother of using
  11. an RTF-capable word processor (such as Microsoft Word),
  12. and yet without sacrificing any of the functionality. MiniHelp
  13. Plus v3.21 has no restrictions and is not crippled in any
  14. way.

  16. The Windows interface for MiniHelp Plus v3.21 has been
  17. redesigned to increase the ease of use of MiniHelp Plus
  18. and to expand its capabilities. Here is what you can do:

  20.      * Compile your MiniHelp Plus ASCII source file into
  21.        an ASCII text file
  22.  
  23.      * Run the Windows Help Compiler without ever leaving
  24.        Windows.

  26.      * "Build & Test" your Windows Help file with the click
  27.        of one button.

  29.      * View the Help Compiler Error Log file either at your
  30.        leisure or automatically when the Help Compiler is
  31.        finished compiling your Help file.

  33.      * View/edit the file MiniHelp Plus automatically generates
  34.        (the RTF, HPJ, or the Header file for context sensitive
  35.        Help).

  37.      * View/edit virtually any graphic files in your Help file
  38.        project (bitmaps, hot spot graphics, and Windows
  39.        metafiles) at the click of one button.

  41.      * Launch your favorite ASCII text editor with the click of
  42.        one button. You can even have your current Help file
  43.        project text loaded in automatically, if you so choose.

  59. First, you will need an ASCII text editor you are familiar and
  60. comfortable with. You will also need a graphics editor (such
  61. as Windows Paintbrush).

  63. Most importantly, you will need a copy of the Windows Help
  64. Compiler, if you do not already have one. This program is
  65. widely available on virtually every major online service and
  66. on a very large number of BBSs around the world, even from
  67. Microsoft themselves via the Microsoft Download BBS
  68. (206-936-6735). On America Online, download the file
  69. HCP505.ZIP to obtain the latest and most up-to-date copy of
  70. the Windows 3.1 Help Compiler. Or, you can contact me and

  73. I used to include the Help Compiler (HCP.EXE) with MiniHelp
  74. Plus but have chosen not to do so now, due to its wide spread
  75. availability and to make the download time for MiniHelp Plus
  76. shorter.

  114.             helps you get the most out of MiniHelp Plus by giving
  115.             you special hints, tips, tricks and answering many
  116.             frequently asked "How do I do this..." questions.

  118.           * Microsoft Help Writer's Authoring Guide: a Help file
  119.             from Microsoft that details all the particulars about
  120.             writing Windows Help files. An invaluable reference
  121.             and resource of information.

  123.           * The Multiple Resolution Bitmap Compiler: compiles
  124.             your bitmaps of different resolutions into one special
  125.             graphic file so your graphics retain their intended
  126.             aspect ratio when displayed on different resolution

  130.             spot graphics from bitmaps that allow you to jump to
  131.             one topic when you select a certain area of the graphic,
